This airshow season we have been incredibly lucky to see a number of aircraft show up behind the Skyvan photoship that are so unique they all deserve a separate report on this website. The Martin Mars was one of those ultimate highlights, and only a few days before this flight we had the chance to catch the B-29 DOC.

In the series “only one…” The PB4Y-2 Privateer most certainly has its place. Out of the original 739 aircraft built, literally only 1 aircraft remains in flying condition today!! It is a genuine WW II and Korean War veteran, used in the role of patrol bomber. In its life after the wars several airframes were converted to firefighting aircraft.

After a lengthy restoration by GossHawk Unlimited, the sole flying Privateer resides at Casa Grande and is a very popular aircraft for airshows and fly-ins in Arizona. We were very privileged to fly a sunset photomission with her over the stunning Arizona backdrops, another memorable evening for all aviation photographers onboard the Skyvan photoship. For over 40 minutes, we got another once in a lifetime aviation experience!
