One of Europe’s most beautiful aishow scenery
must be the show at the British Channel Island Jersey. Every year Mike Higgins
and his team attract a nice collection of aircraft to the Island which is
located between France and the UK.
On the evening before the show, a memorial service was held with a flypast
of the Battle of Britain Memorial Flight. One of the star participants
was the Avro Lancaster which was visited by a crew of WWII veterans who
flew the aircraft during the war. |

On Thursday afternoon the actual Air Display takes
place at St Aubin's Bay on the south coast of Jersey. Around 30.000 people
visit the bay to watch a large variety of aircraft flying above the bay.
Aircraft participants came from all over Europe with the Belgian F-16, T-28,
P-51 Mustang and Patrouille de France to name a few. The Air Display also
has very good participation by the RAF who brought the Tucano, King Air
and the world famous Red Arrows, who flew a unique formation together with
the mighty Vulcan. |

In the summer of 2010 the only flying Sikorsky S-38 flying
yacht started his world tour and flew from it’s homebase in the US
to Europe. Named Osa’s Ark, the aircraft was resorted to it’s
original form when in the early 1900’s Martin and Osa Johnson flew
all around the world to document the nature from a different perspective.
Painted in its distinctive zebra-stripe colors and flown by Tom Shrade,
was one of the many highlights of show. |

The organization has a very good relation with
the Swedish Air Force Historical Flight which regularly visit the Jersey
show. This year they participated with the Sk60 and the Saab J-29 Tunnan.
We had the honor to fly with Stellan Andersson (Chief pilot of SAFHF) in
the Sk60 to photograph a unique formation of two contemporary Jets, the
F-86 and the Tunnan. The flight took us all around the beautiful Island,
passing the famous reefs, which resulted in one of the most beautiful pictures
of the year. |
